Senior Pastor: Rev. Javon Voglezon, Sr.

Saved by grace and only by God’s grace, has Reverend Javon Aaron Voglezon Sr. been able to serve as the Pastor of Hillandale Baptist Church, located in Adelphi, Maryland. He grew up in Adelphi, Maryland, and attended Cherokee Lane Elementary School, Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School, and High Point High School. In addition to that, he was very active in Beltsville/ Adelphi Boys & Girls club playing various sports and activities.
Upon graduating from High Point High School, he attended Howard University in Washington, D.C. During his sophomore year, the Lord quickened and awakened his heart to the truth that he was a sinner in the hands of an Omnipotent and Holy God. Realizing the truth that the wages of his sins deserved the penalty of death. He was deeply convicted of his sins and knew that he was destitute and brought nothing to the table to earn or deserve salvation. Being convicted of the need to repent of sins, he rejoiced in the truth of Romans 5:8, which clearly revealed to him that, God demonstrated His own love for him and that while he was a sinner, Jesus Christ died for him.
Standing in awe of God’s love, grace and mercy, one cold night on November 4, 1998 while sitting in his dorm room alone, with his Bible open, reading the book of Matthew, he repented of his sins and put all of his trust in Jesus Christ to save Him and forgive him of his sins. From that moment on, his life has never been the same. He realized that Jesus Christ was Who he needed and Who he had been looking and longing for in all the wrong places. In Christ, he now had a life. In Christ, he now was truly living.
Before he was saved, the only church that he had ever attended was Hillandale Baptist Church. Though he started attending there as a child, he was not consistent and did not have an intimate personal relationship with Jesus Christ. But from the time he was saved, that cold night in his college dorm room, God worked all things out according to His good and led him back to Hillandale Baptist Church where he now attended regularly and was taught, equipped, and discipled. More importantly, this time around, he now had an intimate personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Through the years to follow, the Lord would lead him to serve in numerous ministries at Hillandale Baptist Church, where it molded and grew him up in Christ. He served as an Usher, Sunday School and Bible Study teacher. He also served on the Finance Committee, Counting Committee, Search Committee, Youth ministry, and Men’s ministry.
On February 3, 2002, he was ordained as a Deacon at Hillandale Baptist Church. On June 19, 2016, he was ordained as minister by Hillandale Baptist Church. In 2018, by God’s grace, he was called by Hillandale to become the current Pastor.
He has been truly blessed to be a product of the fruit of God’s work at Hillandale Baptist Church and by God’s grace, he knows that, only by God’s grace, can he humbly and courageously lead Hillandale Baptist Church.
He has been married to his lovely wife and best friend Erin for eleven years and they have two boys Javon Jr. (9 years old) and Ethan (8 years old).

Minister Jimmy Ham was born and raised in Laurel, MD. He would honestly say God has given him a heart to be a minister since he was 6 years old. Jimmy loved preaching as a child. When he wen to high school at St. Vincent Pallotti he led Bible studies with a few friends and people on the football team. In college Jimmy continued to lead Bible studies. After Jimmy graduated from Morgan State University with my bachelor’s in psychology the Lord called him to lead the youth ministry at Mount Sinai Baptist Church for 6 years. Jimmu received his license to minister at Sinai; under the direction of Pastor Tyrone Queen and the former assistant Pastor Rev David McIntosh Peters, who now is the Senior Pastor at Salem Baptist Church. Not too long after that Jimmy Ham married the love of his life, Victoria Ham. He currently serves with the Navigators as Campus Director on site at Bowie State University. Jimmy and his wife both love God and have accepted that they are called to be messengers of the Good News that Jesus is alive! Christ loved us so much that he died for us while we were still his enemies, man can you believe that? His passion as a preacher is to show people that the greatest love comes from Jesus.
